Dare to be different
Our Diversity Manager welcomes you
Neil Carter joined Bedfordshire Police as the strategic lead in diversity and equality matters in 2005. His career in diversity and equality spans more than twenty years working in the voluntary, public and private sectors. Neil’s knowledge and experience in this role has enabled the organisation to continue to develop its credibility with Bedfordshire’s many and diverse communities.
“Diversity is about being valued for who you are and what you bring to your job, and from day one I realised that Bedfordshire Police really prides itself on being inclusive. We want to be seen as an employer of choice – a place where people want to work.
In fact, Bedfordshire Police is a top 100 organisation in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index, and we have been for the last three years. But that’s not all – we pride ourselves on becoming a disability confident organisation. In 2007, we took part in the prestigious Disability Standard benchmarking exercise organised by the Employers’ Forum for Disability for the first time ever – and received a bronze award for our work in this area.
Quite simply, this is an organisation that takes diversity seriously. We make sure difference makes the difference.”
