How would you feel if you could work full-time to help reduce nuisance crime and anti-social behaviour in the county you love? Working alongside regular police officers, you would be a reassuring presence on the streets, identifying and tackling local issues to make neighbourhoods safer.
A valued member of the community policing team, you can expect to be a highly trained and vital part of the wider police family as you work to promote public reassurance and reduce the fear of crime.
Your PCSO duties might typically include:
- Attending incidents of disorder, nuisance and anti-social behaviour.
- Community Liaison.
- Gathering evidence through observation.
- School Liaison.
- Dealing with anti social behaviour.
- Working with partnership groups and local authorities.
- You are likely to spend most of your time out on patrol, usually on foot or sometimes on a bicycle, mostly working on your own.
You will carry a radio to communicate with police control rooms and other colleagues, and operate out of local police stations/community offices within the Safer Neighbourhood Team.
You will often be asked to patrol areas that have been experiencing particular problems, such as estates where there have been a spate of car thefts or burglaries, or where there have been complaints about nuisance youths on the streets.
